A free workshop for those who serve as caregivers to someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia will be held at the Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Program, located at the South Central Center on Aging, 4747 Dusty Lake Drive, Suite 101, from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday and Thursday.
Caring for an older adult with dementia presents many special challenges to family and friends who provide the care and support needed to remain at home. This program will provide an overview of information on dementia and caregiving for anyone helping to provide unpaid care for an older adult with dementia at home. Topics will include home safety, activities, nutrition, local resources, dealing with caregiver stress, etc.
Attendance on both days is not required, but recommended. All participants will receive a caregiver workbook.
To register for the program, please call 870-879-1440. The Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Program is funded by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation and is a program of the South Central Center on Aging – UAMS.
