Members and guests of the Progressive Chapter, American Business Women’s Association, met recently at the Relyance Bank in White Hall for their monthly meeting and luncheon.
The room was decorated with blue or white tablecloths with patriotic decorations placed on top of them. Nancy Rosen, food group chairman, brought a chicken/broccoli casserole. The other members of the food committee — Linda Hurd, Linda Eifling, Jean Upshaw and Ann Douthit — brought salads, vegetables, dessert, bread, and ice tea.
Eifling, chapter president, conducted the business session of the meeting. The invocation and Pledge of Allegiance were led by Betsy Foster, vice president. Foster read thank you notes from Marjorie Stewart for our condolences when her husband died. She also read thank you notes from Lindsey Upshaw and Jayme Yarbrough, former scholarship recipients.
Alice Erwin reported that she had presented Anita Butler her scholarship at an assembly at Watson Chapel High School. The Nominating Committee composed of Rosen, Floretta Scott and Brenda Doucey presented a slate of officers for 2013-2014, which was approved. Eifling reminded everyone that the July meeting will be the group’s birthday celebration, and everyone is to bring a gift for exchange.
Jan Adam, Travel Chairman, planned a day trip to Helena and Tunica.
The dollar pot was won by Margie Murphy. Door Prizes were won by Foster, Rosen and Louise LaGrone.
Special guests at the meeting were Sidney Foster, granddaughter of member Betsy Foster, and Jodie Garner, granddaughter of member Jan Adam.
