Shady Grove hosts Friendship auxiliary

On April 11, Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Glendale hosted the quarterly meeting of the Friendship Missionary Baptist District Ladies Auxiliary for ladies and guests from Cleveland, Desha and Lincoln counties. There were 38 ladies, pastors and visitors.

The meeting was called to order by the president, Kerri Rambin of Center Missionary Baptist Church. Congregational singing was led by Maybelle Green with Mary Alice Mayhan at the piano and Renee Harper at the organ.

Barbara Curry, secretary-treasurer from Holly Springs MBC, read the minutes from the last meeting and called the roll of churches. An offering was received for James Calhoun, Arkansas State Missions Project promotional director.

Andrea Donnell, Oak Grove MBC, sang a musical special and Charlene Miller, Bethlehem MBC, gave the praise and thanksgiving service. There was a music special by Mayhan and Harper, followed by a skit entitled “Emotional Baggage,” performed by Harper and Jennifer Stone.

Mike Powell from the host church was the morning speaker with a message from Hebrews 12:14, 15. Calhoun gave an update on mission projects around the state. The meeting was dismissed and the noon meal was served by the host church.

The next district meeting will be July 11 at Bethel #2 Missionary Baptist Church at Herbine. The offering goal will be for Landol Swinney, missionary in Christchurch, New Zealand. It will also be the time to bring canned goods and paper goods for the seminaries in Little Rock and Minden, La.
