Progressive Chapter ABWA chooses Business Associate of the Year

The Progressive Chapter, American Business Women’s Association, met recently at the Pine Bluff National Bank, White Hall branch, for their monthly meeting and pot luck luncheon. Fried chicken was the main dish, and the room was decorated with artificial spring flowers in flower pots.

Betsy Foster, vice-president, conducted the meeting in the absence of the president. Plans were made to have the Woman of the Year/Business Associate Banquet on May 14 at the Harbor Oaks Restaurant.

The chapter voted to honor Mike Adam as the 2013-2014 Business Associate of the Year. Mike moved to Pine Bluff in 1971 and started a motorcycle repair business which grew into the Cycle and Marine Supercenter we know today. Mike and his wife, Jan, have three children and eight grandchildren. He faithfully donates to the Scholarship Fund and is also an ad donor. He is an important part of the activities of the chapter. The 2013-2014 Woman of the Year will be revealed at the banquet.

Foster reported on the prospective scholarship recipients. Lauren Burgess, Whitney Erwin, and Anita Butler were selected to be Progressive Chapter’s 2013-2014 scholarship recipients.

The money pot was won by Floretta Scott who donated the money back to the chapter. Door prizes were won by Nancy Rosen and Jan Adam.
