Pine Bluff woman celebrates 90th birthday

Susie Etta Ward Arnold of Pine Bluff will observe her 90th birthday today.

Arnold was born Feb. 24, 1923, at Tillar, a daughter of the late Easter Robinson. She lived at Gould for many years before relocating to Pine Bluff to live with her granddaughter, LaShunda Jones. She attended Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church before moving to Pine Bluff.

Arnold has been married twice in her lifetime. Her first marriage was to Hardy Hicks Sr., with whom 10 children were born. She later married Nat C. Arnold and to this union three children were born. Arnold retired from Gould School District after 25 years of dedicated service.

She attends Redeem Adult Daycare Center, where she enjoys the social activities, according to Jones.

Jones said Arnold “gives all honors to God and her obedience in his word to her longevity”.

“Her fashion sense has never declined. She is a true generational diva, loving to keep her hair and nails done and staying well-groomed,” Jones said. “She has a spirit that would brighten any room and would and still helps anyone in need.”

Jones said Arnold’s favorite scripture is “you reap what you sow” and that she lives by it faithfully.

“She is very well-loved by many and today will celebrate her special day with close friends and family, with true evidence she is a woman of excellence celebrating 90 years and counting.”
