Pine Bluff Christian Women’s Connection monthly luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Pine Bluff Country Club.
The featured speaker will be Catherine Zoller from Tulsa, Okla. Zoller brings a delicious blend of engaging humor along with Biblical truth. She is a best-selling author and inspirational speaker who more than lives up to her motto, “Make ‘em laugh, make ‘em cry, make ‘em think and change their lives!”. She has given dozens of messages including her wildly popular and inspiring personal testimony.
Zoller’s extensive life experiences, along with her wit and candid, invigorating style resonates deeply with audiences all across the country. She was born in the sweltering heat of El Paso, Texas (west Texas) summer in June of 1958. Less than two years later, her father would move the family to Oklahoma City and open his dental practice. She would leave her parent’s home just after her 15th birthday.
“I made things pretty difficult for my family,” Zoller said. “I was hyper and talkative and wildly curious and always pushing the limits. I wasn’t an easy child to raise, an easy sister to have or an easy student to teach. As a result, the older I got the more rebellious and defiant I became.”
As a 15-year-old drug addicted runaway facing serious prison time, she gave her shattered life to the Lord and fell in love with the word of God when she experienced its life-changing power. From that moment to the present, Zoller’s singular passion has been to see others set free.
The special feature will be Janice Wilkes of Pine Bluff. She is a native of Little Rock and attended Little Rock Central High School before attending the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. She graduated with a degree in education focusing on special education in 1986. While attending UAPB she was involved with the Vesper Choir.
Wilkes has worked in the field of special education for 32 years. At present, she is a special education instructor at Jenkins Memorial Center and director for the Jenkins Memorial Choir. She also is a supervisor at Jenkins Housing Intermediate Care Facility.
Wilkes has been married to Anthony Wilkes for 26 years. She attends St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where she is a member of the choir and is in the Missionary Society.
Virginia Haertlein will be in charge of the decorations for the luncheon.
