PBHS Class of 1960 celebrates 100th birthday of former teacher

The Pine Bluff High School Class of 1960 met recently for its monthly get-together.

The group met at the home of Jerry and Ruby Poteet for a fish fry celebrating the 100th birthday party for its ninth-grade study hall teacher, Inez Westbrook.

Westbrook lives in Cape Coral, Fla., with her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and James White, who are 1960 classmates. She celebrated a family birthday in Florida on July 14. Her birthdate is July 17, 1913.

Those attending were Judy Nelson Norwood, Mary Ann Sweeney Greenlee and her two grandchildren, Carah and Trey Colbert, Doug and Linda Smith, Bill and Norma Ridgway Ray, Marie Brown Jones, Sandra Goodbar McFalls of Bryant, Jean Dye Conrad of Jonesboro, Joe Hale, Bob and Lenora Porter, Janice Helvie Tiner and Jane Summerall Price. The cooks for the fish fry were Billy Cheek and B.W. Herring.

The celebration included a large banner, a trophy, a large birthday cake and a very large birthday card that everyone signed.

The next get-together will be Thursday at the Wright’s Ranch House on Dollarway Road.

All classmates and friends are invited to come and enjoy the fun and fellowship and receive their Zebra stripes.
