PB woman celebrates 99th birthday at The Gardens

Ruth Green, a resident of The Gardens at Whispering Knoll Assisted Living on the Davis Life Care Center Campus, recently celebrated her 99th birthday.

A throng of friends, relatives, community officials, and Davis staff turned out for a celebration in the dining room of the assisted living facility. Green received several proclamations from city, county and state officials.

Green was born in 1914 in Lincoln County, a daughter of the late James Houston Fuller and Melissa Fuller. She married the late David Green on Nov. 27, 1932.

As a teenager, Green loved to play basketball, baseball and hopscotch. She said the most memorable moments in her life were when she confessed a hope in Christ in 1929 at Mount Nebo Baptist Church in the Yorktown community, when she got married and when her mom have her a Singer sewing machine.
