NAUW honors Woman of the Year at National Day observance


The Pine Bluff Branch of National Association of University Women recently observed National Day in the Black and Gold Room at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

Amanda Michelle Wells was honored as the Pine Bluff branch’s “Woman of the Year 2012-2013” for her continual dedication to her work in the NAUW. Wells attended UAPB and graduated with a bachelor of science in accounting in 1992.

She is currently attending Webster University at Little Rock pursuing a master of science in finance. Wells is currently employed with the Department of Finance and Administration as a tax auditor II. She has been a member of Pine Bluff Branch of National Association of University Women for 12 years. She has served as co-chair of the Community/Outreach, and also chaired the Internal Audit and served on many other committees. She is currently serving on the Fundraising and Bylaws committees. She also serves as the Pine Bluff branch photographer.

Wells is a member of Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and serves on the adviser team of Delta Eta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., at UAPB.

She is also a member of Burford Memorial No. 383, Order of Eastern Star, and Prince Hall Affiliated. She is a member of Mount Moriah Court No. 9, Heroines of Jericho and a member of E.U. Reed Assembly No. 78, Order of Golden Circle. She is a lifetime member of the AM&N/UAPB Alumni Association. She is also a member of Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, where she serves as vice president of the usher ministry.
