Mathontes Club closes out year’s study of ‘Rock Your Decade’

The Mathontes Club held its annual luncheon recently at the Pine Bluff Country Club.

The event concluded the year’s study of “Rock Your Decade,” which featured musicians from six decades of the 20th century.

To recap the study, videos of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” along with “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees, were shown. Other musical icons featured at the luncheon included Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong.

Guests were seated at tables centered with baskets of red geraniums surrounded with vintage 45-rpm records. The registration table featured an arrangement of hydrangea, stocks and other fresh flowers, sent by Grace Hoffman, one of the hostesses who was unable to attend. The other hostesses were Belinda Brown, Marti Johnson, Grace Hoffman, Dorothy Shepherd, Catherine Anne Atkinson and Norma Roberts.

Guests at the luncheon were Claire Curry Campbell, Mildred Franco, Barbara Tracy and Diana Millenbaugh, an inactive member.

Yearbooks for the 2013-14 club year were distributed and reflected that the next year’s study theme would be “Hollywood.”
