The sisters of the Order of the Eastern Star, P.H.A., Burford’s Memorial Chapter No. 383, partnered with the CASA Women’s Shelter to bring Christmas early to its residents.

Tiffany Jones, chair, spearheaded the effort. It was inspired by the drive and motivation of the chapter’s members to give back to the community, especially during the holiday season. This time of year is sometimes the most difficult for families who may be experiencing crisis in their lives.

The chapter donated food, children’s and women’s clothes, toys for Christmas, bedding, women’s perfume and toiletries, along with a variety of other necessities to help residents transition to a new beginning. This is the final event for the chapter’s 2012 calendar events.

For more information on becoming a part of the 2013 calendar of events community service efforts, contact Kimberly H. Withers or Jones at tiffanyjones136@gmail.com. The deadline for e-mail submission of requests or inquiries for possible inclusion on the chapter’s upcoming year’s calendar is Dec. 31.
