Kiwanis Club of Pine Bluff installs officers

The Kiwanis Club of Pine Bluff installed 2012-2013 officers at its regular meeting. John Henry, Missouri-Arkansas Division 22 lieutenant governor, installed the following officers and board of directors:

• President — Karen Cash

• President-elect — Chris Cummings

• Secretary — Claudia Russell

• Treasurer — Billy Stone

• Immediate past president — Robert Tucker.

Board of directors are John Henry, Phil McBee, Bill Reid, Celeste Smith, Barbara Rhinehart and Ann Williams.

Awards presented included Perfect Attendance and the Legion of Honor. Perfect Attendance awardees were Karen Cash, one year; Robert Tucker, one year; Gloria Sumner, one year; Phil McBee, one year; John Henry, two years, Barbara Rhinehart, 21 years; Robert Rhinehart, 39 years, and Sonny Spharlar, 46 years.

The Legion of Honor is given to Kiwanians who have been members of a Kiwanis Club for 25 years or more, in increments of five years. The following Kiwanians achieved the Legion of Honor: Terry Reeves, 40 years; Joe Strode, 40 years; Ellis McEntire, 50 years; and Bill Reid, 50 years. Kiwnian of the Year was presented to Billy Stone and Human and Spiritual Aims award was given to John Henry.

The Kiwanis Club of Pine Bluff community projects include The Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson County, Boys State and Girls State, the Summer Cereal Drive, Neighbor-to-Neighbor, and the Salvation Army. Four Kiwanians serve on the Salvation Army Advisory Council. At the Christmas season, the club supports the Salvation Army Kettle Drive and the Land of Lights and Legends. At the district and international level, the Kiwanis Club donates to the Earl Collins Scholarship Foundation, a Missouri-Arkansas District project of which Robert Rhinehart is Division 22 Trustee. The club is also supporting International’s Eliminate Project to eliminate material/neo-natal tetanus in Third World countries. By the year 2015 Kiwanis International will raise $155 million dollars to eliminate this disease.
