Jefferson County Extension Homemakers host Dutch Oven Cooking School

The Jefferson County Extension Homemakers recently hosted a Dutch Oven Cooking School, conducted by Laura Rogers of the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission.

Those in attendance enjoyed a meal prepared by Rogers, who is an experienced Dutch Oven cook and outdoors woman. Rogers is the regional education coordinator for the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission’s Education and Information Division. She shared many activities that she is responsible for, including going into the classroom and introducing the children to wild animals that actually live in the Arkansas woods and not just in a zoo.

The group also heard from Eric Maynard, director of the Delta Rivers Nature Center. Maynard talked about the hiking trails, archery lessons for children, fishing and other sports offered at the Nature Center.

Maynard teaches teacher professional development workshops at the Nature Center.

Rogers also shared a few of her Dutch Oven recipes.
