Historic marker dedication slated Saturday in Dallas County

In connection with the sesquicentennial anniversary of the Civil War, a historical marker dedication ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Tulip Community Center on Highway 9 in Dallas County.

The program will include the dedication service, a short history of “Tulip During the Civil War,” and the history of the town. Tulip was once dubbed as the “Athens of Arkansas” by Albert Pike.

The event will be sponsored by the Arkansas Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Arkansas Division of the Children of the Confederacy, the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission, the Arkansas Humanities Council, and the citizens of Tulip.
