Grand Prairie Quilt Society meets for Sit ‘n Sew

STUTTGART — The Grand Prairie Quilt Society met April 10 for their quarterly Sit ‘n Sew at the Stuttgart Public Library with 6 members present. Glenda Landreth opened the meeting with the thought of the day…. “Quilts are like friends, They keep you warm.”

Everyone wished Ann Crum and Sherry Thompkins a Happy Birthday for April. The treasurer’s report and the minutes of the March meeting were given and approved.

Glenda asked everyone to bring a Civic Project idea to the next meeting. Plans were discussed to attend the Hot Springs Quilt show in July. More about this will be forthcoming at the May meeting. During the Show and Share session:

Glenda demonstrated a folded-square hotpad. She also showed a set of quilt blocks made years ago by the members in a swap/exchange project. She hopes to get them quilted this year.

Marsha showed the Dresden Plate block she made at the quilting workshop at the Plantation Agriculture Museum in Scott. It was hand-pieced and hand-quilted. She said it took all day just to make the one block. Sherry had three pillows…a Four-Patch Posy pillow, a Breast Cancer Awareness pillow and a Razorback pillow.

The meeting then adjourned and everyone settled down to “Sit ‘n Sew.” Several quilts were started, continued, and planned. Glenda completed the small quilted possibles bag demonstrated at an earlier meeting. After a sack lunch, the members worked on their projects until time to go home. The next meeting on May 8 at the library will begin at 9 a.m.
