Girl Scouts to hold annual Cardboard Boat Regatta

Girl Scouts – Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas will host the annual Cardboard Boat Regatta from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 7 at Camp Taloha at Pine Bluff.

The annual event is open only to Girl Scouts who are registered/re-registered by Saturday. In teams of three to four, girls will construct a sea-worthy vessel made entirely of cardboard and duct tape and race to a soggy finish. Leaders and families interested in competing should come prepared to build a boat and get wet. New this year, overnight accommodations are available for troops and/or families on a first-come, first-served basis. A current background check for any adult staying overnight is required.

The fee is $2 per registered Girl Scout member (girls and adults). There is no fee for other family members. The registration deadline is Sept. 4.

Participants should wear bathing suits and sunscreen and bring picnic lunches and drinks. Participants are also responsible for disposing of their trash.
