FBC Senior Adult Ministry journeys to LR for day of fun, shopping

On the last of the cool days in July, the Senior Adult Ministry of First Baptist Church journeyed to Little Rock for lunch and shopping. Their destination was the Midtowne and Park Plaza shopping centers. Both of these shopping centers are centrally located and across from one another which makes driving a little easier.

For lunch, the group chose Cantina Laredo, a “gourmet Mexican” restaurant located in Midtowne Shopping Center. The dishes are not your usual fare — but they contain all the favorites — beef, chicken and grilled fish. On the day of the SAMs visit, the fresh fish of the day was salmon, served on a bed of rice with a wonderful sauce. Other favorites enjoyed by the SAMs were taco salad, chicken, cheese, and beef enchiladas, and tacos with all the garnishes.

After lunch, the group visited several of the shops in Midtowne — Williams-Sonoma, Ann Taylor/Loft, and Pottery Barn. It was fun looking at all the new colors for dishes, place mats/napkins, etc., at Pottery Barn and the kitchen items and food at Williams-Sonoma. Loft had a wonderful assortment of cool, summer clothes — all the pastal shades.

Afterward, the group went to Park Plaza. Dilliard’s is always a favorite, especially the designer sections — Versace, Jones New York, DKNY, Gianni Bini, Antonio Melani, Nygard, Ralph Lauren, etc. and the very, large shoe department. Another favorite place is Coldwater Creek.

After a day of fun and Christian fellowship, the group headed home. Those making the trip were the volunteer driver, Roger Minyard and his wife, Linda, volunteer SAMs organizer, Jeanette McGrew, Audrey Borecky, Betty Craig, Ruth Henry, Peggie Howard and Jimmie Lee Nichols.
