Hazel Street Church of Christ, 4015 S. Hazel St., will host its Fall Ladies Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 20.
The theme for this year’s event will be “God: Our Master Gardener and Designer.” According to an event spokesman, the program “will take us on a stroll along the path in the garden of life and enable us to be more productive Christian women.”
The guest speaker will be Vivian Alford. She was reared in Arkansas and southern Missouri. She and her husband, Jim, live near Lewisville, Ark., where they own and operate a ranch raising stocker cattle. Alford taught public school for 21 years and was voted Stamps district’s Teacher of the Year twice. She now spends time ‘rounding up’ grandkids, going on hog hunts, fishing, gardening, reading, and painting. She speaks at ladies events and has taught ladies classes and Bible studies, ladies retreats, teen girls Retreats, as well as children’s classes.
Vivian and Jim were blessed to find each other after both experienced unexpected and unwanted divorces. Vivian has one daughter, one stepson, and one stepdaughter. Jim and Vivian joined together to rebuild their lives with God as the head of their blended family. They have been married 22 years and helped heal each other with God’s help. They both have counseled Christians and shared their experiences of the hardships of divorce, along with the challenges and blessings of blending a family. The couple has six grandchildren with a seventh due next spring. They worship with the Walnut Church of Christ congregation at Texarkana, Texas.
Lunch will be served. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by Monday by calling 870-535-5933 or e-mail email@example.com
