Dinner theater opens Thursday at First Baptist in Star City


STAR CITY — First Baptist Church of Star City will host its first dinner theater Thursday and Friday at 6 p.m. in the church’s family life center.

The play “Virgil’s Family Reunion” is a two-act comedy starring 18 members of First Baptist. Wayne Harmon plays Virgil in a family reunion that goes haywire held at the home of his parents Eloise (Kim Bayliss) and Harley Wayne Sludge (Andy Story).

Virgil’s new bride Margaret (Marian Sue West) is the daughter of the Sludge’s best friends Beatrice (Rhonda McCool) and Leonard Hopper (Brannon West).

Other family (cast) members are Virgil’s sister Bertha Mae (Beverly Robertson) who is the love interest of Ellard (Robert Wilson Floyd), and three family cousins who also have a thing for Ellard: Curly Sue (Jenilee Berry), Larry Sue (Rachel Floyd), and Moe Moe (Lee Ann Boren). Added to the insanity is the snooty next door neighbor (Ashley Steed), a hefty pie-eating cousin (Glo Raley), a mean-spirited grandma (Diana Harmon), and her gentleman friend (Bill Krogman), hard of hearing Aunt Polly (Glenda Fish) and Uncle Lester (Sonny Fish), and a city cop (Brad Robertson).
