Delta Sigma Theta to present free community book drive

The Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., will host a book signing at The Pines mall Café Court from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday featuring Alice Faye Horton, the author of the children’s book, “Grandma Got Stuck in the Bathtub.”

In the book, Lottie adores her Grandma and for that reason she wants to be just like her, extra weight and all. Grandma loves Lottie too, but she is passing on her bad eating habits to her granddaughter. Everything that they do revolves around food. Not only is grandma overweight, but she is contributing to Lottie becoming overweight also. Lottie’s mother, who is a nurse, stresses the importance of healthy eating to both Lottie and her Grandma, but it doesn’t sink in until grandma has an experience that gets her attention.

Horton, a member of Delta Sigma Theta, will be present for the book signing and book reading. She has worked in the field of education for 36 years and currently serves as the director of programs for students with special needs in the Watson Chapel School District.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring their children to participate in this free event. The first 50 children will receive a free autographed book. There will also be special appearances by the Easter Bunny, provided by The Pines mall, and character appearances compliments of Jack N Jill Fun Zone.
