Classic Club members attend performance of “Rex’s Exes” at Murry’s Dinner Playhouse

The Classic Club of Simmons First National Bank recently enjoyed a performance of “Rex’s Exes” at Murry’s Dinner Playhouse at Little Rock, according to club director Misti A. Smykla.

The production is a southern-fried comedy by Jones, Hope, and Wooten Playwrights and takes place in Sweetgum, Texas. Main characters Gaynelle, Peaches and Jimmie Wyvette Verdeen are cousins who find themselves involved in a series of outrageous home-grown situations. Add a missing husband, a feisty uncle, a self-centered jailbird aunt, a bounty hunter, a monumental birthday, and a funeral to the mix and the chaos becomes hysterical. Seeing local actress Laurie Pascale in the production was a bonus.

Murry’s new chef themed the delicious buffet items around the southern comedy and even named many of items after “Rex’s Exes” characters.

Classic Club members and guests who made the day trip were Josephine Adams, Bob Barringer, Jackie Henderson, Barringer’s and Henderson’s guest, Rose Akenhead, LaNelle Beck, Mark and Kim Binns, Barbara Fels, Lisa Grigg, Ann Holt, Barbara Jacks, Elois Knox, Robert and Betty McClanahan, Peggy McCoskey, O G Monk and his guest, Mary Lou Brewer, Jeanette Ragar and her guest, Margaret Austin, Pete and Sylvia Smykla, Jeanette Von Tungeln and her guest, Ann Ashcraft and Smykla.
