Christian Women’s Connection slates luncheon

Pine Bluff Christian Women’s Connection monthly luncheon will be at the Pine Bluff Country Club from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.

The featured speaker will be Christine Lahti from Bella Vista. The title of her speech will be “Tending the Garden of Eat’n.”

Lahti’s found her life as a wife and mother changed dramatically. After this she walked in a life of sin and made many bad choices that brought her to her knees.

She shares how her spiritual growth began like a seed growing in the “garden of her heart.” She began to find her life changing from desperate longing to joy as she invited the Heavenly Father, The Master of Gardens to tend the “garden of her heart.”

Lahti is originally from Chicago. She is married with three grown children. She very active in her church, The Bella Vista Community Church. She and her husband are members of the gospel band, BVCC.

The special feature is Jack Cockrum of Pine Bluff who will be speaking on gardening tips.

Cockrum was born at Black Oak, Ark., and attended and graduated from Monette High School. A the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, he received a degree the School of Agriculture in 1985.

Cockrum then did a tour of duty in the Army. He was a salesman with Swift and Co. in the chemical division, a salesman with John Deere Co. and National Cotton Council of Memphis.

He married Emily Sanders of Pine Bluff in 1960. They have four children and seven grandchildren.
