This is a listing of activities of interest to residents of Southeast Arkansas. Anyone who would like to submit entries for consideration may do so in writing to the Entertainment Calendar, P.O. Box 6469, Pine Bluff, Ark., 71611. Since all activities are subject to change, it would be wise to confirm the activity with the sponsoring organization.


24-29 — The Southeast Arkansas District Fair and Rodeo will kick off in Pine Bluff. Gates will open to the general public at noon during fair week. The downtown street parade will be held Sept. 27 at 4:45 p.m. Sept. 25 and Sept. 27-29 will be designated “Armband Nights” from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 27 will also be Student and Senior Citizens Day and the Gospel Music Talent Show will be held at 6:30 p.m. Everybody’s Talent Show will begin at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 28 and “Midnite Madness” will be held from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The Southeast Arkansas District Talent Show finals is scheduled for Sept. 29 at 6:30 p.m. The rodeo, sponsored by the Arkansas Rodeo Association, will take place Sept. 27-29 beginning at 7:30 p.m. daily. The crowning of the Rodeo Queen will be held Sept. 29. For more information, call Hestand Stadium at 870-535-2900.


2 — The 79th annual St. Joseph Catholic Church Spaghetti Supper will be held Oct. 2 and Oct. 4. Serving hours for lunch will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and dinner hours will be from 5-7:30 p.m. in Gallagher Hall. Carryouts will be available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in St. Joseph gym, located behind the church. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling the church office at 870-534-4701.

8 — Celebrate the holidays early by joining the Jefferson County Extension Homemakers Council at its annual “Holiday Foods” event at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 717 W. 32nd Ave. Reservations for the event must be made and paid for by Sept. 28 by calling 870-534-1033 or going to the Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Service office at 500 S. Idaho St. Tickets are $8 each, which includes a cookbook. Extra cookbooks may be purchased for $4 each.

18-20 — The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 Main St., will present “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten” at 7:30 nightly.
