The Alpha Rho Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, will celebrate Breast Care Awareness Month as they team up with the UAPB Golden Lions and the Susan G. Komen Foundation on Saturday at Golden Lion Stadium to support the fight against breast cancer.
The Golden Lions will wear pink pre-wrap tape to accessorize their black and gold uniforms in order to show their support as they take on the Jackson State Tigers at 6 p.m.
Alpha Rho Chapter will be selling pink pom poms and wrist bands in an effort to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and assist the fans in promoting breast cancer awareness. The UAPB Marching Musical Machine of the Mid South and cheerleaders will show their support by wearing pink ribbons on their uniforms. The chapter will also hand out informative breast cancer awareness literature so that everyone will be informed about how they may go about getting help if needed.
The ladies of Alpha Rho Chapter encourage everyone who attends the game to wear a “hint of pink” with their black and gold and support the fight against breast cancer.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, therefore, each year the Alpha Rho Chapter of AKA organizes health campaigns and events to increase awareness and raise funds for this most important cause.
The chairman for the Breast Cancer Awareness Committee is Brittani Stone and her co-chair is Topeka Jackson. Jasmine Gaston serves as chapter president. For more information, contact Mattie P. Collins, at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 870-536-5417.
