AKA debutantes visit Arkansas Convalescent Center

Twenty-five young ladies who are scheduled to be presented to society on Dec. 22 in the 45th annual Debutante Cotillion, sponsored by Delta Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., have been involved in a number of events leading up to the Cotillion.

Those events are focused on such issues as community service, etiquette, college preparation, social skills, and others.

Recently, accompanied by members of Alpha Rho and Delta Omega Omega chapters, the ladies visited the Arkansas Convalescent Center, where they entertained the residents and performed various services for them. The residents were entertained and engaged in Bingo games and were presented gift boxes containing toiletries and other necessities.

Included in their schedule of activities to attend, they also visited the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas where they viewed an exhibit by an alumnus of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Kevin Cole, and attended a dramatic presentation. Extremely important to them was a College Fair Night to which they were very responsive.

Cynthia Bennett is president of Delta Omega Omega chapter and Marguerite Flannigan and Monique Benford are chairmen of the Activities Committee.
