The AARP Driver Safety Program, developed by AARP, will be offered from 12:30 to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, 1600 W. 40th Ave.
The course is for participants 50 and older and will cover the normal changes in vision, hearing and reaction time that come with age and will provide practical techniques for dealing with these changes. A driver who completes the course will receive a certificate, which by state law, enables drivers to receive a discount on their automobile insurance if they are 55 and older. This discount is good for three years.
The cost of the course is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members, payable to AARP at the time of the class. Participants should bring a valid driver’s license and their AARP membership card if they are members.
This is a four-hour multimedia course and there are no tests to pass. The class will be taught by a licensed AARP instructor.
Interested individuals should call 870-247-4898 to pre-register. The class will be limited to 35 participants.
