There will be a 50th anniversary reception for Jerry and Ruby Poteet of Pine Bluff, Ark., on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, from 2-4 p.m. at Meadowview Baptist Church on Middle Warren Road.

Jerold Scott Poteet (Jerry) married Ruby Louise Wessels on Jan. 10, 1962, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pine Bluff, Ark., by Rev. Donald Tucker.

Jerry is the son of the late John L. Poteet (Lee) and Tennie Poteet. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School where he played football, and road motorcycles. He even had 21 wrecks. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad for 43 years. He is a “Jack of all Trades” and can fix anything except the break of day and broken hearts.

Ruby is the daughter of the late Oscar and Helen Wessels. She graduated from Pine Bluff High School. She has worked as a sales clerk, bookkeeper, secretary, seamstress and owner of The Nimble Thimble. She retired from the Pine Bluff Cotton Belt Federal Credit Union where she was a teller, checking account manager and loan officer.

They are active members of Meadowview Baptist Church. They are expert “cruisers” and “car trippers” and now work as professional volunteers.

Jerry and Ruby have two children, Jerold ‘Scott’ Poteet Jr. (Jennifer), and Cherie Danielle Massey (Will); and three grandchildren, Ashley, Scott, and Morgan.
