Katherine Elizabeth Busby and David Leslie Machen exchanged wedding vows at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 2 at First Presbyterian Church in Pine Bluff. The Rev. Lance Clemmons officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Robert Busby of Pine Bluff. Maternal grandparents are Mrs. Bobbie Teague Fort and the late Mr. Jack Manuel Fort of Pine Bluff. Paternal grandparents are the late Mrs. Mary Louise Busby and the late Dr. Arlee Kelton Busby, both of Monticello.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. James Leslie Machen of Forrest City. His maternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Francis Rosica of Forrest City. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bevie Lee Machen also of Forrest City.
The bride, escorted by her father, wore a gown of Alencon lace. The strapless bodice featured a sweetheart neckline and was tied at the waist with an ivory satin ribbon. It flowed into a full trumpet skirt with a semi-cathedral length train. Scallops of lace encircled the hem. She wore a cathedral length veil trimmed in scallops of Alencon lace. She carried an all white bouquet of peonies and garden roses hand tied with ivory satin ribbon.
Ann Taylor Busby of Stillwater, Okla., sister of the bride, served as the maid of honor. The matron of honor was Katie L’aine Tacito of Fayetteville. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Gale Buerkle, Elizabeth Diane Burkhalter, Ann Ellen Gunti, Mary Katherine Hastings and Anna Jeter Ramsay of Little Rock; Lyndsay Duncan Carter of Stuttgart; Erin Talor Edwards of Fort Smith; Megan Moore Johnson of Fayetteville; and Katie Cash Smith of North Little Rock. They wore formal, full-length gowns of champagne silk taffeta with a crumb catcher neckline and carried bouquets of white, blush and peach peonies and garden roses tied with ivory satin ribbon. Honorary bridesmaids were Tara Chenelle Beebe of Sherwood; Martha Casie Selig of Little Rock; and Callie Campbell Sisk of Fayetteville.
Mary Pate Harper of Fordyce and Ann Katherine Svoboda of Little Rock, both cousins of the bride, served as flower girls. Kara Ann Hilliard of Chicago, Ill., served as the scripture reader. Molly Bryant Johnson of Springdale was the guestbook attendant. Mary Riley Busby of Monticello, Avery Jane Harper of Fordyce and Olivia Blaes Svoboda of Little Rock, all cousins of the bride, served as program attendants.
Attending the groom as his best men were James Matthew Machen and Mark Rosica Machen of Fayetteville, both brothers of the groom, and Godfrey St.John White, junior of Memphis, Tenn. Groomsmen were Adam Paul Buerkle of Little Rock; James Benjamin Cargill of Dallas, Texas; Hudgens Sokora Jeter and Charles Sidney Robnett of Stuttgart; Lance Houston Johnson of Springdale; Ross Joseph McDaniel of Memphis, Tenn.; Jeffrey Allan Morrison of Fayetteville; and Joseph Brewer Rhodes, junior of Jonesboro.
Ushers were Christopher Mitchell Bonds of Chicago, Ill.; James Stevens Harris, William Shelby Jeter III and Samuel Patrick Selig of Little Rock; and Channin Austin Tacito of Fayetteville. William Paul Svoboda of Little Rock, cousin of the bride, served as the ring bearer. Arlee Kelton Busby IV of Monticello and Jack Ryan Smith of Little Rock, both cousins of the bride, were acolytes.
Music was an array of classical compositions provided by Dr. André Strydom on the organ and Mrs. Christie Bonds on the viola. Dr. Heidi Cohenour Gordon was the soloist.
The Pine Bluff Country Club was the venue for the reception following the ceremony. The band, The Soulsations of Memphis, Tenn., entertained the guests.
Following a honeymoon in Antigua, Mr. and Mrs. Machen will make their home in Little Rock.
