Powerless children need powerful friends

This is the third in a series of monthly articles about the volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates working with Voices for Children and the Juvenile Court.

The mission of Voices for Children is to continually provide a voice for abused and neglected children who have come to the attention of the court until a safe and permanent home is established.

Ordinary people, just like you, chose to volunteer their time to give hope to a child in foster care. Children come into foster care through no fault of their own. They are ordinary children who have been abused or neglected by the people who were supposed to love and care for them. These children now need you to stand up for them and help assure that they are placed in a safe and permanent home as quickly as possible.

There are hundreds of children in foster care on any given day in Jefferson and Lincoln Counties. Each of these children deserves to have a voice in the overburdened child welfare system. However, without people like you coming forward to be that voice, they will remain silent.
