At the recent birthday meeting of the Bluff City American Business Women’s Association, Edwina Riddle, president, shared a letter from the National Office of American Business Women’s Association congratulating the chapter on its 38th year.
Bluff City was organized Jan. 14, 1974, as the third chapter in Pine Bluff. It continues today offering young women of the community scholarships for furthering their education. This has been the primary focus of Bluff City ABWA since its beginning.
Each January the chapter also selects a Woman of the Year to honor that person for their service to the chapter. The committee, comprised of past Women of the Year — Patsy Stroud, Anna Merle Key and Janelle Thomason — announced that the 2012-2013 Woman of the Year was Riddle. She was presented a white carnation with black and gold ribbon, the colors of the chapter.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the members exchanged birthday presents.
