Alpha Kappa Alpha to present health forum on kidney education


The Health Committee of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Delta Omega Omega Chapter will hold a health forum on renal education at 10 a.m. Saturday on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in the S.A. Haley Auditorium of the S.J. Parker Extension Complex, 2300 L.A. “Prexy” Davis Drive.

The presenters for the event will be Channoah Williams, an advanced practice nurse; Ruthie Mack, a registered dietitian; and Eric Hudson, a licensed master social worker. Topics to be discussed include hypertension and chronic kidney disease.

This seminar is one of a series of health forums sponsored by the sorority’s International Health Initiative. The goal of the initiative is to improve the health status of citizens by providing education on life-threatening illnesses.

Tina Brown is chair of the chapter’s Health Initiative and Beverly Cotledge is co-chair. Terry Jackson is vice president and chair of chapter programs and Cynthia Bennett is chapter president.

The public is invited to attend and learn important information on hypertension and kidney disease.
