Marian Evans and Alvin Lee announce June wedding

Mr. and Mrs. David E. Evans of Pine Bluff are proud to announce the engagement of their daughter, Marian Shayla Evans, to Alvin Cornelius Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Lee, of Pine Bluff, Ark.

Marian is the granddaughter of Mrs. Birdie L. Reece of Texarkana, Texas. She graduated from Watson Chapel High School, and received a bachelor of science degree in health sciences from the University of Central Arkansas, Conway, Ark. She received a master’s degree in Public Health from Tulane University, New Orleans, La., and a doctorate of public health degree from the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health in Little Rock, Ark. Marian is project coordinator for the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Minority Initiative Sub-Recipient Grant Office.

She is a member of Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. She also serves on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson County.

Alvin is the grandson of Mrs. Rosie L. Tate of Pine Bluff, Ark. He is a graduate of Watson Chapel High School and attended Southeast Arkansas College in Pine Bluff, Ark. Alvin is a musician and is director of church music for Grace and Mercy Missionary Baptist Church, where he is a member.

Marian and Alvin will exchange wedding vows June 2, 2012, 4 p.m. at Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., Pine Bluff, Ark. The reception is by invitation only.
