Residents urged to come to Neighborhood Watch meetings

Editor, The Commercial:

I know when some of you see my name you may say, “There goes Ms. Joyce (Joy) or Mrs. Brown again, begging and pleading with the Central Park residents to begin attending their Neighborhood Watch meetings.” And yes, that’s exactly what I’m doing. Begging and pleading to all our Central Park residents to come join us every first Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, 16th and Hickory.

I like to tell people that we are the Neighborhood Watch Group “with a heart.” We’re in the heart of the city and we have a deep love for our area. We’re in the process of planning regular family and community oriented events for our watch group. How would you like to attend a family night of Bingo for neighborhood watch groups? This is just one of the events we’d like to kick off, but we need the participation of our residents. We’d also like to begin a yard beautification competition for the best-kept yard. What about a community garden whereby we raise our own nutritious vegetables? There are so many events we can plan and ways we can come together as a family.

Times are hard and crucial for most of us, and you never know who you may need in these times of need. So let’s join together in sincere love and kindness for one another. I hope to see new faces this Tuesday, Jan. 7. And don’t forget to bring a friend, family member or a guest of your choice. And most of all bring your ideas and your love for our community. See you there.
