DUMAS - Avinell Ava Wells Blount, 97 of Dumas, passed away October 20, 2014 in Monticello. She was born April 27, 1917 in Dexter, Arkansas. Mrs. Blount was a member of Anderson Chapel Baptist Church since 1931 and a homemaker.

WARREN - Cathey Ann Johnson Adair age 46 of Warren, Ark. died Monday, October 20th 2014 at the BCMC in Warren. She was born March 5th, 1968 in Warren, Ark. a daughter of the late B. M. Johnson and Nona Mills Johnson. Survivors Holly Adair, Warren, Ark. two sisters, Glenda Coffman, Cleveland, Texas and Lynn Farmer, Pine Bluff, Ark. two grandchildren Corbyn Curry and Logan Curry.

James Melville

PEACHTREE CITY, GA. - James (“Jim”) Melville Landers, 78, of Peachtree City, Ga., born in Little Rock, Ark., passed from this earth and went to Heaven October 19, 2014. Jim is survived by his wife Rebecca Landers of Peachtree City, Ga., married 56 years. He is survived by his three children, Kelly Baker-Barnes and husband Craig Barnes, Colonel Kevin Landers and his wife Melody, and Brian Landers and wife Suzie; 12 grandchildren; and sister, Natalie Goss of North Little Rock, Ark. Jim’s parents were the late Mel and Edna Landers of North Little Rock, Arkansas.

LITTLE ROCK - Claude A. Griffin, 61, of Little Rock passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014. He was born March 24, 1953 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, son of the late Jesse G. (Bud) Griffin Jr. and Sara Taylor Griffin.

Ricky Lynn Ray, 59, of Pine Bluff died October 11, 2014 at Wadley Hospital in Texarkana Texas. Mr. Ray was born June 14, 1955 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He was self-employed. He served in the USMC in 1972 and was a member of Wings of Love in El Dorado, Arkansas.

Ralph James Smith, Jr.— Survivor of the battles of Peleliu and Okinawa, utter pragmatist with the highest ethical standards, and polished raconteur with a wit as dry as a powder keg — died October 12, 2014.

Bill Fitzhugh

A humble hero died October 12, 2014. Born in what he called his life-long mission field of Pine Bluff, Ark., Bill H. Fitzhugh cast an unforgettable shadow across Jefferson County where he served the Lord and the people for over 40 years. He was a rare blend of diligence and perseverance. He never lost his creativity as he lead thousands of people in their journey with Jesus Christ. He was a dignified man and his life was dynamic in many ways. He was a model of discipline and had a quiet confidence that comes from a faithful, life-long dedication to the Lord. He was an extremely wise man and his counsel was sought by people far and wide.

DUMAS - Tracie Marie Murphy Holiman, 52 of Dumas, passed away on October 12, 2014. Tracie was born April 22, 1962 in Camp Pendleton, Calif. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Gould and was formerly employed by University of Arkansas at Monticello where she was an administrative secretary.
