KANSAS CITY, MO — William John Burns, Jr., 82 passed away April 21, 2014 at the Kansas City Hospice House. William was born November 11, 1931 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of William John Burns, Sr. and Mabel Marguerite (Pratt) Burns. A life long resident of Kansas City, William graduated East High School at age 16. A Navy Veteran of the Korean War, he married Mary Ann Taylor in 1957 and was an Air Traffic Controller for 33 years with the FAA. William was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George A. and Robert D. Burns. In addition to his wife Mary Ann, William is survived by sons, Paul A. and William T. Burns (Rebekah), and two grandchildren, Kaelyn “Kacey” and William “Cody” Burns. Visitation Friday, April 25th from 6-8 p.m. at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Floral Hills, burial at Floral Hills. Memorials to the St. Matthew Presbyterian Church of Grandview, Special Olympics Olathe Trailblazers, the National WWI Museum or Kansas City Hospice are suggested.
