Wendell Wood, 71, of Pine Bluff died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at his home.
He was born January 4, 1943 in Sikeston, Mo., to R.W. and Roberta E. White Wood.
After moving to the Pine Bluff area, he graduated from Dollarway High School, and received a BSBA degree from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He worked for the Arkansas Department of Corrections as a business manager. For the last 12 years, he had served as a substitute teacher at White Hall Schools and Ridgway Christian Schools. Every Tuesday night he hosted a Bible Study about the “End Times”.
He was a member of Pine Bluff First Assembly of God.
He married Connie Carpenter, August 2, 1964, and she survives him along with a son, Brad and his wife Julie Wood of Little Rock, daughter April Bryant of Hot Springs, sister, Jessie Johnson of Arkadelphia, three grandchildren, Natalie Bryant, Abigail Bryant, Jessica Wood and a great grandchild, Hayden McKee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jim Wood and a sister, June Wood.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Pine Bluff First Assembly of God, with Reverend Gary Bell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, by Ralph Robinson and Son.
The family will receive friends at Robinsons, Friday, 5-7 p.m.
