Weldon Wayne Boyter, 83, of Pine Bluff and New Edinburg, died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Wayne was born in Mira, Louisiana April 24, 1931 to the late Joel Hilton and Annie Langston Boyter. As a teenager, the family moved to the Pine Bluff Arsenal area and he graduated from White Hall High School.
Wayne was a member of the first 11-man football team at White Hall and soon married his high school sweetheart, the homecoming queen, Rosemary Jones. They were blessed with two daughters, Carol and Luann. Later he married Mary George Langston and they were blessed with Elizabeth. Mary died in 1986. In 1991, he married Linda Towery Johnson and inherited two more daughters, Kim and Kellye. He wore many hats throughout his life beginning with cutting yards, shoe sales, banking, insurance, home builder, pilot, pawn shop, referee, quarter horse business and many other enterprises. He was a great salesman. He coached grade school football teams for many years and is still affectionately known as “Coach Wayne.” They won the state championship in 1961. He was active in the Jaycees, Arkansas Quarter Horse Association and the Methodist Church. He loved to work and he loved to play!
He is survived by his wife Linda; four daughters, Carol Ross (Ron) of Pine Bluff, Luann Raymick (Kent) of Fayetteville, Liz Turner (Neal) of Gulfport, Miss., Kellye Russell (Tom) of Sheridan; one sister, Cynthia Ray (Charles) of Harrison; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, as well as the mother of his two eldest daughters, Rosemary Hall of Pine Bluff. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Martha Thompson, brother Jessie LaVerne Boyter, and daughter Kim Johnson. Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Smith Chapel Church of God near Kingsland at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Bro. Shane Matthews will officiate.
