Sheila Lynn Minter Goss, age 51, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, August 14, 2014.
Born October 22, 1962 at Elizabeth City, NC, she was a daughter of Carolyn Gunn Minter Amos of Eden, N.C and the late David Revelle Minter. She grew up in Eden, and attended Mars College on a volleyball scholarship. She graduated in the class of 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in banking and finance.
After graduation, Sheila moved to Fayetteville, N.C where she met her future husband, Joe. She lived in Georgia, Louisiana and California as an “Army wife” until moving to Pine Bluff in 1992.
From 1985 until 1988, she was an assistant branch manager for Household Finance in Fayetteville, N.C.; from 1988-1990 as a loan officer for Sabine State Bank at Fort Polk, LA; and from 1999-2014 as a teacher’s aide at Edgewood Elementary School.
An active member of First Baptist Church, she had served as a Sunday school teacher, and for over 15 years, she was a member of Bible Study Fellowship.
Along with her mother, Sheila is also survived by her husband, Joseph D. “Joe” Goss, whom she married on August 6, 1988 at Eden, N.C.; two sons, Joseph D. “Bo” Goss, Jr. and Caleb L. Goss, both cadets at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY; two sisters, Lesia Harris and husband Darrell of Ridgeway, Va. and Tina Terry and husband Jimmy of Eden, NC; and an aunt who was raised as a sister, Donna Hill, also of Eden, N.C.
Services will be Sunday, 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Thornton officiating. Arrangements are by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
