Roy Lee West, aged 73, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at his home. He was born in Rover, Ark., on October 19, 1940.
He was a retired farmer and former farm manager for R. A. Pickens and son. He was a charter member of the original Turner-Neal Hunting Club and was an avid hunter for his entire life. He was a long time member and deacon of Bethel Baptist Church in Gould.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Nannie Grace Grissom West; two brothers, Herbert West and J.C. West; three sisters, Lois Qualls, Bernice Reed and Mary West.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon Scott West of Dumas; one son Roy Allen (Angela) West of Dumas; two daughters, Sheila (Dean) Jarrett of Gillett and Danita (David) Pitts of Austin; six grandchildren, Brooke Jarrett, Jordan Jarrett Dodd, Deno Jarrett, Brittany West Penick, Taylor Bitely and Preston Bitely, one great-grandchild, Haidyn Penick and one brother, Larry West of Greenwood.
Visitation held Thursday, November 7, 2013, 6-8 p.m., Griffin Funeral Home, Dumas, Arkansas. Services held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2013, Griffin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Skip Kelly, Rev. Bob Lamb and Rev. Charles Calhoun officiating followed by interment in Walnut Lake Cemetery. Memorials made to Bethel Baptist Church, Gould, Arkansas. Arrangements are by Griffin Funeral Home, Dumas, Ark.
