MONTICELLO — Mr. Paul Edward Samaniego, age 33, of Monticello, Ark., passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 in Little Rock.
He was born December 2, 1980 in Fort Carson, Colo. to Don Edward Samaniego and Cathy Diane Thrower Samaniego. Paul was a veteran, he proudly served two tours as an Army Ranger in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, had earned his Parachutist Badge and Ranger Tab and was attached to Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 2nd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. He was honorable discharged after his active years of service. Paul was a loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend. He will be forever missed by his family and those who knew him. He is survived by, mother, Cathy Turner of Monticello, Ark.; father and step-mother, Don and Debra Samaniego of Junction City, Kan.; sister, Sara Hale and husband Heath of Rogers, Ark.; son, Casper Layne Samaniego of Monticello, Ark., and niece, Mckenzie Hale of Rogers, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ada and George Thrower, his paternal grandparents, Bessie and Raymond Samaniego and an uncle, William “Squeeky” Thrower.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church with Pastor Willis Finley officiating. A private interment will take place at Fitzhugh Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Ark. at a later date.
