WHITE HALL - Ida Charline Henry, 78, of White Hall, Ark. departed her temporary body June 25, 2016 to be with Jesus to await her coming resurrection. She was born October 20, 1937 in Redfield, Ark. to Johnie Edward Walters (deceased) and Lennie Dearmore Walters (deceased) both of Redfield. Four older siblings preceded her in death: Doris Overton, Mamie Wootton, Johnie Walters Jr., and Jean Walker. Two younger siblings still reside in Redfield: Barry Walters and Gwendolyn Liles. Her three children are William Henry Jr. of Batesville, Ark, Teddy Henry of Redfield, and Tamara Henry of Venice Beach, Calif. She is blessed by seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

WHITE HALL - Sally Dolph Owens, 84, of White Hall, died Sunday, June 26, 2016 at White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - Thomas Allen Lyon, 88, of San Francisco died at home on June 22, 2016. Tom grew up in Arkansas, and was a proud alumnus of the University of Arkansas as well as the University of Chicago. Tom worked for Cummins Engine Company for more than 30 years, retiring as the owner of Cummins West in San Francisco. After retiring, Tom was a devoted volunteer to St. Dominic’s School and more recently for Hospice by the Bay. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Augusta Rose Lyon; two daughters, Mary Kay (John Tannebring) and Barbara (Ian Fryer), as well as four grandchildren, Paula, George, Tom and Andrew.
MONTICELLO - Arthur J. (Junior) Lenderman, age 74, of Monticello passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Little Rock. He was born July 25, 1941 in Garrett Bridge, Ark. to the late Arthur Isaac Lenderman and Zeffie Lois Williams Lenderman. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a farmer and member of Old Union Southern Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Lenderman.

RUSSELLVILLE - Nell Denton Smith, age 91, of Russellville died on June 24, 2016, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville, Ark. She was born August 19, 1924 in Plainview, Ark., to John Jacob and Edna Dowell Denton. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Gerald Smith; son, Robert Gerald Smith, Jr.; brothers, Lawrence, Loren, Dowell and Dale Denton.
FORDYCE - Vivian Louis Tolerson Scott, 95, of Fordyce, Ark., departed this life June 23, 2016, surrounded by family. She was born March 3, 1921 to the late Ethel Hurshpield Tolerson and Jessie E. Tolerson, Sr. in Auvergne, Ark. She was preceded in death by four sisters: Vernell T. Proffitt, Gloria T. Haskins, Doris T. Borders, Delores T. Blackwell; and two brothers, Clay Tolerson, Sr. and Jessie E. Tolerson, Jr. She is survived by one sister, Floy T. Nelson (Robert), Newport, Ark. Vivian married the late Reverend Herbert M. Scott, Sr. December 25, 1949. Two children were born from this union: Herbert M. Scott, Jr. (Yana), Little Rock, Ark., and Marquis Daryl Scott (Joyce), Pine Bluff, Ark. She has two grandchildren, Yana-Janell Scott, Little Rock, Ark., and Ulysses S. Grant, IV, Houston, Texas and two great grandchildren, Brooklyn Ife Grant and Austin Elijah Grant. Vivian attended W. F. Branch Colored Junior High School, Newport, Ark., and received her high school diploma from Cotton Plant Academy, Cotton Plant, Ark. In 1944, she earned her B.S. Degree in Home Economics from Philander Smith College, Little Rock, Ark., and further studied Library Science/Media at A.M.&N, Pine Bluff, Ark., Atlanta University, Atlanta, Ga., and Our Lady of the Lake College, San Antonio, Texas. In 1983, after serving the Fordyce School District for 36 years, Vivian retired. She taught third grade and civics at Dallas County Training School and was a librarian for Fordyce Middle and J. E. Wallace School. She continued to serve an additional 15 years in the district as a substitute teacher after retirement. She was also a faithful servant at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church; a member of the Elegant Ladies Club; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; and the Fordyce Scholarship Association where she served eight years as President. She was the recipient of numerous awards and honors. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 104 East Fourth Street, Fordyce, Ark. Visitation will be 4:30-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2016 and the funeral will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
