Eva Nell Harmon Dempsey, 99, of Trinity Village Assisted Living in Pine Bluff, Arkansas died January 17, 2015, after a short illness. She was born January 9, 1916, in Gans (Sequoyah County), Oklahoma. Her parents were Henry C. and Ollie White Harmon, pioneer residents of Sequoyah County, Indian Territory (later Oklahoma).

Pamela Lee Harrison, 59, Pine Bluff, born December 31, 1955, passed away January 12, 2015. She was a member of Family Church in Pine Bluff. She is preceded in death by her mother, Geraldine Harrison.

Katherine Powell

Ms. Katherine Lovette Powell, 80, of Pine Bluff, passed away on January 4, 2014. She was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late James and Corine Lovette. After graduating from Lake Village High School in 1951 as valedictorian, she continued her education at Arkansas Agriculture Mechanical and Normal College which later became the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. She received a bachelor of Arts and began building a fifty year legacy as an outstanding educator and author at Dumas School District-School Library Media Center, Alport High School 4th grade, 9th English/Librarian, Marian Anderson School, 6th Grade, and Damascus School-Social Studies. In her quest for continuous knowledge, she earned a Master of science in Education from University of Central Arkansas, in Conway, Arkansas and a Master of Library Science from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margie Jones, born January 10, 1909 to the late Will and Elisha Jasper, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 West 13th with the Rev. Jimmy Fisher officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Interment-Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Services entrusted to the P.K. Miller Mortuary.

DOTHAN, ALA. - Mary Nell Moncrief New, 67, Dothan, Alabama passed away January 5, 2015. She was born in Watson, Arkansas on March 29, 1947 the daughter of Alvin and Alta Mobbs Moncrief. Her parents and three brothers preceded her in death.

Vera Jones

WOODLAWN - Vera Maurice Jones, age 84, of the Woodlawn community, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Mrs. Jones was born June 17, 1930 in Lone Prairie community located in Ashley County, a daughter to the late Thomas Edward Scott and Vera Avelyne Lee Scott. She was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Jones was an active member of the Snazzy Steppers Red Hatters Club, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
