Shellie Dixon Jr.

Shellie Dixon Jr. was born November 10, 1929 to the late Shellie Dixon Sr. and the late Jessie Mile-Dixon in Pine Bluff, Ark.

Shellie excepted Christ at an early age and attended Union Hopewell Baptist Church. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy in 1948 were he served his country honorably in World War II, Korean War, and the Vietnam Conflict. He was a radio operator until he retired in 1968 with the rank of E-6 Petty Officer 1st Class. He lived in Oakland, California until he went to work in the Marshall Islands. While in Oakland he was married to Earl Lee Williams-Dixon and they had a set of twins, Michael Ray Dixon and Sharon Kay Dixon. While in the Marshall Islands he bore another son Boaz (Head) Dixon with Rejene Ji Drok of Majuro, Marshall Islands. He then moved back to Pine Bluff in 2003.

Mr. Dixon leaves to cherish his memories, his step-mother, Ferdia Mae Dixon of Pine Bluff, Ark.; sisters, Jean Gregory (Tony) of Chicago, Ill., Betty Jackson of Pine Bluff, Ark., Thelma Flournoy of Pine Bluff, Ark.; brothers, Aurthor Ross (Charlotte) of Glen Burnie, Md., and David Dixon (Alice) of Pine Bluff. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, October 11, 2013, at the P.K. Miller Mortuary with the Reverend Edward Darton officiating. Interment will be in the Veteran’s Section of Graceland Cemetery. Online register:
