Nettye Jo Bennett Johnson, 59, of Pine Bluff, formerly of Star City died Friday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
She was born November 9, 1953 in Star City to the late, Samuel L. And Mary E. McEntire Bennett. She was also preceded in death by Annie Clyde Moore, Mattie McGriff Moore and R.A. Goyens Jr. who raised her. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Rhelda Jane Benett Morton.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Star City, a Sorority member of Alpha Sigma Alpha, an avid Facebook fan and was a customer service representative for Wagnor Industries in Pine Bluff.
Survivors include two brothers, David L. Bennett (Hazel) of Pearl River, La. John R. Bennett (Carolyn Jo) of Star City, a sister, Sammy Kay Bennett Searcy (Jim) of Monticello, a caregiver, Virginia Maxine Curtis of Star City, her dog, Maggie, nephews, David W. Bennett and Troy Bennett of Pearl River, La. Terry Bennett of Houston, Texas. Danny Morton of Catoosa, Okla., Pete Searcy and Charlie Searcy of Monticello, Dusty Bennett of Star City, two Nieces, Desha Brown and Jenna Johnson of Star City and a host of extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at Hickory Grove Cemetery near Star City with Debbie Towles and Charlie Searcy officiating. Pallbearers will b Grady Story, Donnie Weatherford, Michael McMillen, Paul Hutchins, Ronnie Ellis and Jeff Puckett, Honorary Pallbearers will be Mac D and Gene Grahnert. Visitation will be at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City from 5-7 p.m. Sunday. In Lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials will be made to the American Cancer Society.
