CHICAGO — Mr. Melvin Dunlap, 58 of Chicago, formerly of Dumas, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago.
Born January 21, 1956 in Dumas, he was a son of Mr. Johnny Dunalp of Chicago and the late Almazine Wofford Williams. A graduate of UAPB and UA Monticello, a US Army Veteran, and he was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Derrell Dunlap of Dumas; tow daughters, Jackie Williams of Springfield, Ohio, Marshelvia Collins of Bryant; six brothers, James Earl Vassol, Ricky Williams both of Dumas, Tyrone Dunlap, Lafonsio Dunlap, Anthony Cole all of Chicago, Gary Williams of Atlanta; four sisters, Almarie Ratcliff, Lawanda Dunlap, Andrea Cole, Tracie Williams all of Chicago; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are schedule for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Union Baptist Church in Dumas with Rev. Larry Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery at Pickens by Brown Funeral Home of Dumas.
Visitation will be Monday at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m.
The body will lie in repose at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.
