RISON — Lucy Marie Rouse Reeves, 77, of Rison, died Sunday, December 1, 2013. Born September 18, 1936 at Athens, Ala., she was a daughter of the late Thomas Rouse and Agnes Moss Rouse.
A homemaker first and foremost, Mrs. Reeves also worked outside the home. She was the owner/operator of ‘Marie’s Place’ Diner and Sterick’s Package Store, after waitressing for several years at the Sno-White Grill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother Berlie Rouse; and three sisters, Myra Harris, Joyce Ellis, and Virginia Owens.
Mrs. Reeves is survived by her loving husband of thirty-four years, James Reeves, to whom she was married, March of 1979; children, William Russell (Karen), Elizabeth Ann Joest (Nick), Kathy Laughrey, Faye Bryant (Mike), Melissa Taylor, Butch Reeves (Leonette), Susan Coats, (Tim), Jerry Reeves (Judy), and Rusty Reeves; sisters, Patsy Peden and Helen Martin; twenty grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends.
The family would like to acknowledge granddaughter, Libby Handy, for the care and compassion she has shown for Mrs. Reeves during her time of need.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Chapel with Brother Butch Reeves officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
