HENSLEY — Joe Thomas Helms, 76, passed away Saturday February 8th at his home in Hensley.
He was born April 23, 1937 in Oak Grove, La. He graduated high school in Mer Rouge, La. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Reserves until 1962.
He moved to Pine Bluff where he was employed by International Paper Co. until he retired in 1998. After retirement he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing and playing golf.
Mr. Helms was preceded in death by his grandparents Eugene and Lillie Helms, and Herbert and Hattie Chaney. Also his parents Juit and Gladys Helms of Pine Bluff.
Left to cherish his memory is one brother, Robert and wife Peggy of Tecumseh, Mo. ; one sister, Peggy Helms of Pine Bluff; three sons, Ken and wife Beverly of Rye, Chris and wife Deana of Pine Bluff, and Kevin and wife Jennifer of Rye; his friend and companion, Sandra Price of Hensley; eight grandchildren, Christon Cupp and husband Brant of Junction City, La., James, Amber, Sarah and Dillion of Rye. Hunter, Anna, and Jessie of Pine Bluff; one great-granddaughter, Aniston of Junction City.
Viewing will be Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Ralph Robinson from 5-7 p.m.
Funeral will be a graveside service officiated by Pastor Roger Stewart at Rowell Cemetery, Thursday the 13th at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers are James Mitcham, Randy Montgomery, Roger Harrison, James Helms, Hunter Helms, and Dillion Helms.
