Mr. Harlon Henry Jones, Jr., 40, of Pine Bluff, Ark., passed Wednesday, November 13, 2013. He was born in Pine Bluff to Freddie M. (Burnham) Jones of Pine Bluff and the late Harlon Henry Jones, Sr.

Lillian Ferguson

WARREN — Lillian Richardson Ferguson age 93, of Warren, Ark. died Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

Survivors include a son Rev. Wallace Ferguson and spouse Linda, Warren, Ark.; a daughter Linda Balsley and spouse Marvin, Fredericksburg, Texas.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a first cousin Marvin G. Richardson, Ft. Smith, Ark., and a host of nieces and nephews.

Roosevelt Bridges

Mr. Roosevelt Bridges, 93, of Pine Bluff passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. He was born April 20, 1920 to the late Ed and Willie Fields Bridges.

At the age of twenty-two, he enlisted in the United States Army. Serving in World War II, he achieved the rank of Private First Class and received an honorable discharge in 1946.

Mr. Bridges was an active member of New Jericho Missionary Baptist Church, once serving as a trustee. He had the honor of being the oldest Deacon in the church. He was a Mason and was member of Prince Hall Grand Lodge F&A Masonic Temple.

Survivors include by his wife; Willie Bridges; daughter, Sylvia Anderson; grandchildren, LaTosha Coleman, and Charles E. Anderson Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jamila Armour, and Sylvia Anderson.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Highland Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Sammie Smith officiating. Burial will be in Veterans Section of Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state from 9:45 a.m. until service time.

Fannie Chears

Fannie L. Chears, 93, of Pine Bluff died November 13, 2013 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born February 20, 1920 to the late Jack and Ludella Sain.

Survivors include a brother, Louis Sain of Little Rock; a sister, Lola B. Parks of Chicago; eight grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, thirty-two great-great grandchildren, and a great-great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mark Baptist Church in Marvell, Ark. by Rev. Roosevelt Urquhart. Burial will be in St. Mark Cemetery by Henson-Holcomb Mortuary.

Faye Jenkinson

Faye Rodgers Jenkinson, 87, of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, November 20, 2013.

Born September 30, 1926 at Randall, Ark., (Cleveland County) she was a daughter of the late Fletcher Rodgers and Bertie Parker Rodgers.

Mrs. Jenkinson was a homemaker and a member of First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church.

Her pastimes included painting, fishing with her husband, and spoiling grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 12 siblings.

Mrs. Jenkinson is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Eddie Jenkinson, to whom she was married, April 6, 1945; daughters, Shelia Cooper and Husband Jim, and Brenda Jenkinson; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday,November 22, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church with Brother David Harris and Brother Robert Cossey officiating.

Private burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Deacon Arvan ”Van” Gray was born March 1, 1950 to the Late Deacon Roy H. Gray, Sr. and Mrs. Bernice Gray in Grady, Ark. The Lord called Deacon Arvan “Van” Gray to his eternal home on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones.

Terrance Brooks, Sr.

On Saturday, November 16, 2013 God called home one of our loved ones, Terrance Dontrell Brooks, Sr. Terrance was the first born son of Tresa Ann Sabb and the late Theodis Brooks, Sr. on September 19, 1989. Terrance was fun-loving, considerate and caring. He was known as the “protector” of the family.

He accepted Christ as his personal savior at the early age of twelve. He was last employed at Tyson Foods and attended the Watson Chapel School District.

He leaves to cherish his memories to his loving mother, Tresa Ann (Keith) Daniel; two sons, Nathan Tremell Smith, and Terrance Dontrell Brooks Jr.; two sisters, Tyneka Lathea Brooks, and Talyah Sheree Brooks.; brother, Theodis Brooks, Jr.; special niece, Kelaiah Kinsey all of Pine Bluff, Ark. He was born March 27, 1952 to the late Rosie Mae and Arthur Hayes in Dumas, Ark.

Sylvester Farver Jr.

Funeral services for Sylvester S. Farver Jr., 75, of Pine Bluff passed November 13, at his home will be Saturday 11:00 a.m., Family Time Church, 501 Ohio Street, Rev. Michael Williams, Pastor, Donald Mack, officiating.

He was born December 14, 1937 in Wabbaseka, Ark., son of the late Sylvester S. Farver Sr. and Estella R. Farver.

He had worded for Cotton Belt Railroad. He was preceded in death by grandson, Sidney Farver Jr.; sister, Doris J. Farver.

Survivors include three daughters, Juanita McNealy, Henrietta Farver, Tena Farver all of Pine Bluff; seven sons, Henry L. (Amelia) Farver of Austell, Calif., Albert R. (Virginia) Farver of Gautier, Miss., Michael Farver, Edward Farver, Sidney (Sharon) Farver, Tyron D. (Theresa) Farver, Rick Farver all of Pine Bluff, Marvin D. MONTICELLO — Charles L. “Chuck” Cater, age 76 of Monticello passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Wiebenga Cater of Monticello; one son, Ricky Lamar Cater of Monticello; one brother, Roland D. Cater of Harrison; one sister, Alice Cater Wolfe of Harrison; one grandson; and one very special great-grandson.

Nelma Connell

KILBOURNE, LOUISIANA — Nelma Gean Connell, age 85, of Kilbourne, La., formerly of Eudora, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at West Carroll Health Systems Hospital in Oak Grove, La. She was born June 14, 1928 in Adamsville, Tenn., the daughter of the late L. N. Newell and Bessie Taylor Newell. She retired after 29 years as Vice President and Assistant Cashier at Eudora Bank then later joined her husband at Wico Appliance Store in Eudora. She was the widow of Henry Connell Jr. and a member of Kilbourne United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Connell Jr., her parents, L. N. and Bessie Newell and by a sister Mary Faye Hamilton.

Survivors are two sons, Scottie Connell of Eudora and George H. “Sonny” Connell of Whitehall, Ark.; a sister, Mildred Harper of Kilbourne, La.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 9-10 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Kilbourne United Methodist Church with Funeral services following at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Officiating will be Rev. Curtis Carroll and Rev.
