MONTGOMERY, TEXAS — Leon Kimbrell, age 85, of Montgomery, Texas, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, in Montgomery. Mr. Kimbrell was born May 2, 1928, in Cleveland County, Arkansas, the son of the late Sylvester and Virgie Payne Kimbrell.
Mr. Kimbrell was reared and educated in Rison, Arkansas, where he attended the Rison schools. He moved to Pine Bluff in 1948, and later entered the U S Army and served in the Korean War. He worked in the construction industry for fifteen years, retiring in 1991.
Mr. Kimbrell was preceded in death by three brothers, Grady, Hughey Dewayne and R. C. Kimbrell and one sister, Estelle Works.
Survivors include a daughter, Regina Kimbrell Broxson of New Caney, Texas; son, Vester Leon Kimbrell of Houston, Texas; three brothers, W. A. Kimbrell of Warren, D. H. Kimbrell of Pine Bluff and Gene Kimbrell, of White Hall; three sisters, Delores Williams of Rowell, Birdie Simms of Owensboro, Ky., and Carmen Walls of Watson Chapel.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend J. P. Simms officiating. Burial will be in Prosperity Cemetery at Herbine. The family will receive friends at Robinson’s Monday evening from 5-7 p.m.
