HOUSTON, TEXAS — Funeral services for Katherine Carter Shelley, 88 of Houston, Texas formerly of Altheimer, Ark., passed away February 19 will be Saturday, 11 a.m., New Hope MBC, 510 East 2nd, Altheimer, Ark., Rev. Fred Johnson pastor.
She was born August 5, 1925 in Altheimer, Ark., daughter of the late Owen and Alberta Carter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John H. Shelley; son, Andrew Shelley; sister-in-law, Artelia Hughes.
She was a member of New Hope MBC in Altheimer, Ark. until her health failed and she moved to Houston, Texas with her daughter. While at New Hope MBC she was a choir member, she served as president, for many years as treasurer, as an usher, Mission society, member of Singing Union, and Central District Baptist Association.
Survivors: daughter, Joyce (Frank) Eaton of Houston, Texas; grandsons, Johnathan Jermaine of Houston, Texas; sons, Robert (Phyliss) Jones of Inglewood, Calif., Clarence (Naomi) Atkins of Covina, Calif., Lorenzo (Corine) Shelley of Monroe, La.; sister, Mildred Whimper of Pine Bluff, Ark.; caregiver, Chanfey Collins; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation may be made Friday 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Community Cemetery in Altheimer, Ark. Services by Perry Funeral Home.
